Kishore Vaigyanik Protsahan Yojana is the scholarships for the Indian students in the form of the financial aid paid monthly to the selected students. KVPY scholarship program is organized by the Government of India for the students of class 11, 12 and for the students in undergraduate courses who wish to pursue their career forward in the field of research and basic science by opting the following courses in their graduation and post-graduation like BSc, BS, B.Stat, B.Math, Integrated MSc, MS. Department of Science and Technology conducts the aptitude test in three levels for the students on the merit of which the scholarships are distributed among the selected students if they fulfill the eligibility criteria.
In year 1999Kishore VaigyanikProtsahanYojanascholarship was establishedto promote the students to opt for a career in research and sciences in their graduation and post-graduation. Rs 5000 to Rs 7000 are awarded to the shortlisted students who are selected on the basis of their merit in KVPY exam followed by an interview conducted by the jury. In addition to the monthly fellowship, contingency grants are also provided to the students annually. Students have to pursue full time courses to be eligible for the scholarships, students pursuing distance courses will be disqualified fromthe scholarship program.
Shortlisted candidates will start getting their fellowship amount from the first year of their graduation itself. They also have the privilege of accessing the various national libraries and University libraries across the country on producing their FellowshipIdentity card which is issued by the government. Along with the fellowship and library access to various universities, a summer program of one weekwill be arranged for the selected fellows every year at Indian Institute for Science Education and Research (IISER) – Kolkata, Pune, Mohali, Bhopal, and Trivandrum where they meet the experts in the research fields and their training is conducted under the expert faculties.
This year applications are invited for the applicants from July 18, 2016 and the last date of the submission of the application form is August 30, 2016, aptitude test for the same will be conducted on November 6, 2016.Candidates will be allowed to download their admit cards of the aptitude test from the October2016 and it is highly advisable for the appearing candidates to go through the eligibility criteria before applying because fellowship of any candidate will be terminated at any time if candidate is not following the norms of the fellowship program.
The candidates have a provision of the renewal of the fellowship, forms for the same are available on the websites, if a candidate qualifies the eligibility of renewal he/she can apply for the renewal of the fellowship again. Since the KVPY fellowship is awarded for the one year candidates can renew on the basis of their academic performances every year. Beside from the academic performances a summer project attendance of the summer camp is required for the renewal of the scholarship program.
