Drain cleaners are useful if they are used in moderation and for the exact problems they were designed to be used for. Otherwise, you will have problems with damaged pipes, which will lead to having to replace broken pipes. Overusing drain cleaners will let the harsh chemicals in it start eating away the walls of pipes, thinning them out.
However, unless the clog is serious, you can use home-made and eco-friendly remedies, a mixture of vinegar and baking soda, to clean the pipes. Nevertheless, if the clogs and cloths are serious, it is time to call professionals so that they have a look, before you get your pipes into worse condition.
Disconnect Hoses in the Winter
During the summer, it is not a problem to leave your hose connected to the an outside tap, but come winter and it can cause your pipes to freeze and burst; and before you even realize you will have a huge bill to have your pipes replaced and fixed. It is imperative that as soon as cold weather comes, you disconnect hoses and shut off any water supply to outside taps.
